Hey hey hey! Hello from New York, New York! Now that the Natural Electricity tour has unplugged, Drizzle and I are chillin on the Upper West Side, trading in the funk for Christmas songs. (Yes, we’re feeling quite Merry.) Christmas is here! (I’m big on Christmas.) What does Christmas have to do with anything? Nothing, except that I have a present for you: I stayed up til 4 AM blogging these pictures. Now that’s love. Toodles.

On October 4 iLL-Literacy and the Hi-Lifes debuted a condensed version of its fall season set, including the first public performance of “(Re)booty Shake” and the “Rainbow On My Ceiling” remix.

Dahlak’s studio, The Boondocks, is finally finished! With the nice foamy stuff in the booth and everythang! It’s housed in a pretty stand-offish and blasphemous building, but what isn’t nowadays, right? We’ve wasted no time in getting use out of the spot, and for the rest of the summer there will be back and forth movement between Oakland and Sacramento for rehearsals at least two or three times a week (holy gas money, Batman!) But it’s going to be worth it…we’ve already drafted up two songs for the fall tour and have started working on the mixtape. It’s grind time!!!!!

Today the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Festival hit Lafayette Park in front of the White House to speak on their views of America’s crumbling educational system. Speakers included Dahlak and Adriel of iLL-Literacy, Amiri Baraka, Chinaka Hodge, George Watsky, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Lauren Whitehead, Jose Vadi, and dozens of youth from throughout the world.
