FOR THE RECORD: JAMBAMA

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 | Posted by iLL-Literacy | Categories: For the Record, News

Today’s the big day. We’re here in Washington DC, staying 2 blocks from the White House.  There is a conference comprised of 1,500 republicans checking in today, and the city is quiet.  Tonight we head over to Harrisburg, PA for Dahlak’s Rock the Vote event, and then we bite our nails listening to the radio as we make the long drive to Ithaca, NY.

But yo, even if you’re not covering 3 states today, you still have the opportunity to take part in this nationwide worldwide movement!  If you haven’t voted yet, please find your local poll and get yours in!!!!!!!

PS: Some of these tracks are showing as 30 second snippets BUT if you click that “Launch Standalone” link on the bottom left corner of the player, they’ll turn into full songs! YES YOU CAN!

FOR THE RECORD: Music for Robots

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 | Posted by iLL-Literacy | Categories: For the Record, News

Speaking of Janelle, our next installment of For the Record is all about good ol’ metal people (or “people of metal,” as some prefer to be called). As we’ve been developing our new material for the upcoming tour, the introduction of a live MPC and voice modulator have…swayed…the way that we’ve been going. We’re very very excited to show you, but it’ll have to wait til the fall! In the meantime, pop and lock to this:

FOR THE RECORD: Music for Aliens

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 | Posted by iLL-Literacy | Categories: For the Record

Things here are iLL-Literacy are getting a little strange. There’s a lot of wacko shit going on, and it’s affecting the kind of music we listen to…and also the kind of music we’ve been making. Can’t really go into it too much right now, the people at the Pentagon might be watching. You might have to wait until the fall. But in the meantime, here are some spacetunes to get you aligned with our orbit. If anything, it’ll help you get through your day at work at warp speed.

And for those of you who are really really down: Captain EO in its entirety.

FOR THE RECORD: Beta Version Soundtrack

Saturday, July 5th, 2008 | Posted by iLL-Literacy | Categories: For the Record, News

So we’re not doing too many shows this summer because we’re locking ourselves up in the lab to see what we can cook up for the upcoming mixtape/album/fall tour. The past few sessions with our band The Hi-Lifes has been dope, and we’re soooooo excited to unveil everything in October! In the meantime, we’ve been trying to figure out the chaos of 8 people in a room coming up with one song, without the universe completely exploding (yet). We came up with the idea of creating “soundtracks” for each of the new songs–a culmination of joints that are influencing/inspiring/adding digiparts to the song in creation. Sort of a way to get everyone on the same jump-off point before we rocket into all different directions.

The first soundtrack goes to “Beta Version,” a little diddly that Adriel posted on the 366 blog last month and that’s starting to take a life of its own. Chances are we won’t be giving you another peek at this joint until it’s ready for the stage, but in the meantime here’s what’s been swimming around in our heads at the studio:

Drizzle’s Non-Neo-Soul Mix

Monday, January 28th, 2008 | Posted by iLL-Literacy | Categories: For the Record, News

See, what’s up with that whole stigma of being the neo-soul-hippie person? To be honest, I kinda dug it when it was around. You know? Sometimes you just wanna burn some sage and prop yourself upside down on a corner in your room…barefoot.

Anyway, this is Drizzle, and I would like to give a shout out to Mae who kindly requested that I put together a bunch of soul/neo-soul playlist thingie. And being that I had nothing much to do today besides gain weight, I accepted the challenge. So here you go. It probably will be updated. And Mae, just for you, we kick it off with D’Angelo’s version of “Everybody Loves the Sunshine.”

Grab a tofu burger and sway widdit.
