Day 45: Ruby- Divine Valentine. Spread Love, its the Oakland Way!
I love you. Yes, you!
While I'm notorious for dreading Valentines Day every year, somehow this year, I don't mind it as much. I'm happy to say that there is so much love all around me, and I want to take time to appreciate every beautiful being in my life. (Plus, if this is a day of love, then I must be living V-Day every single day of my life!)
Most importantly, yall, I love myself more than ever, and I am finding an incredible sense of peace with myself. I am loving without fear! I am so, so proud of me. Please take time to tell yourself that you love you today.
And ladies, I know how hard it is to believe in good men, but look and recognize the beauty around you. There are good men in our lives already, remember that.
This is a love letter to the beautiful men in my life. (I love you iLL-Lit, I love you Papa, I love you Phatty, I love you Robby, I love my Veridiano cuzballs.)
*And I love you, Ruby!
Hey loves, I want to tell you
I see you
The way you are bright like Oakland sun
On February mornings
A breakthrough sent
From the sky,
You are new day
In a world of yesterday nights
You inspire me to wake up
To my own greatness
Re-awaken the culture,
Kick God’s womb open
Show this world the God in all of us
We will stitch poetry on war torn canvas
Mending freedom on a cloak
Of threadbare revolutions
Weaving truth to patch tattered scriptures
There is always love
As hard as it is to believe in good men
We women must learn to love without fear
Recognize fathers and brothers
Who know how to love
Placing faith that soon someday
Morning will dawn on a dream
Where life and fate will intersect
Seamlessly
