Day 33: Ruby- Keep in mind i'm an artist, so i'm sensitive about my shit

**iLL bloggerhood! I'm so so so sorry I'm a day late on the post. I been so caught up with other things on my brain, that I didn't realize I didn't post on my designated day. (I bet paloma, the blog nannie, is shaking her head at me right now.) I am so sorry!

For some odd reason
There are times I feel like I had a bad show
I recognize it's never bad in the way I imagine
But still
It's the harsh critic and the overachiever in me
And damn, I can't help but feel bootsie

I think of Kanye Erykah even Janelle Monae
I wonder if they ever leave the stage
Feeling like they just didn't win them over
In the way they wanted to
And I wonder, does Janelle Monae ever cuss? (just a thought)

I blame it all on the times
I watched Fade to Black
My penchant for the lights
That stadium status dream
This is what set the standard
And me and my crew, we push this poetry thing
Til it gets there

Cause it will

And damn that stage looks so pretty
And those lights almost feel like the sun
But there are days I feel so bare up there
Trying to keep yall with me
Yall, just vibe with me
Until I finish my poem

We entertainers we give it all we got

And keep in mind we artists
So we sensitive about our shit

Son, that be
Our heart out there
Imagine the way we trust
Entire audiences not to break it
Cause damn we do it all for the love
And I pray that you recognize it

And me and my crew
We push this poetry thing til it gets there

And even before stage time
My favorite moments
Are the rituals right before
Anyway
The prayer circle
Summoning the God in us
Recognizing we are blessed
To call this
Our purpose
